Well, can you guess the common factor that binds two of the most experimental, yet awaited movies, DELHI BELLY and DHOBI GHAT? Yes, they are both
produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and they start with the same alphabet, D, so no points for guessing that. However, what we are
about to tell you is not all that straight forward and simple as it may appear from our headlines. So, let's bring this guessing game to an end!
Both the films produced by Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, have music composed by Ram Sampath. In fact, Sampath has himself revealed that he is
composing music for both DELHI BELLY and DHOBI GHAT. The choice of Ram Sampath has indeed been a surprising one here. Those not well conversant with
Bollywood music may not even remember Ram Sampath. He had composed music for Rajkumar Santoshi's KHAKEE, FAMILY- THE TIES OF BLOOD and JUMBO. But
it's not music which made him famous in Bollywood, but his in-famous plagiarism case against veteran music director, Rajesh Roshan, for the title
track of KRAZZY 4, which Sampath won via an eleventh hour out of court settlement.
Just to recall, Aamir Khan's association with music genius
and Oscar winner A. R. Rahman is well known and it goes back to the RANGEELA days, on to his first home production , LAGAAN, apart from others, right
down to JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA and finally the biggest of them all, GHAJINI. The only time Aamir has looked beyond Rahman is when he chose the
talented trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for TAARE ZAMEEN PAR. So, let's now see how Sampath pushes the envelope and whether he can rise to Aamir's high
taste in music and achieves his level of perfectionism.
