In an unprecedented move, Aamir Khan has decided not to sign any new film for a year – he will be by wife Kiran’s side after the recent
loss of their baby. Aamir Khan is back from his break with wife Kiran and he’s devoted himself to her care. He’s decided he won’t be signing any new film for a year and instead work on his three home productions. The last couple of months have been tumultuous for Aamir Khan. Only a few months ago, the actor was all set to welcome a new addition to his family. And then tragedy struck when wife Kiran developed complications in her pregnancy leading to the loss of their baby. Life has changed for Aamir since then. For the last 30 days, he’s been by her side as her emotional anchor and everything else has taken a backseat. That includes his shooting schedules, his present lot of movies as an actor and producer and his forthcoming projects. Now Aamir has finally chalked out his plans and marked his priorities – he will not be signing any new film for a year and would only be by Kiran’s side and work on his present assignments. This decision may come as a shock to all those, whose scripts Aamir was reading and was on the verge of finalizing. But that’s Aamir’s call – right now, his family needs him more and nothing else even comes close. According to all those who know Aamir well, the actor still has to come to terms with the recent tragedy. A close source tells StarWeek, “All seemed well with Kiran until the last two months of her pregnancy. It all started when she started feeling feverish on most of the days. Aamir checked with the doctors and the medications began; nobody thought it would develop into something so serious. He would take her for daily check ups. Around that time, Aamir had taken his kids for a long holiday. His family was looking after Kiran then. When he came back, things started deteriorating with her. The fever just wouldn’t come down and that’s when she was diagnosed with infection in the lungs. They asked her to be hospitalized for two weeks.” The trouble began from there. Kiran was put on heavy medication to clear the lung infection. She and Aamir were also told that it could affect the baby’s health so they were prepared. Like a friend of the couple says, “For Aamir, Kiran’s well being was the first priority. At some level, they knew the baby wouldn’t survive. But Kiran was still hoping against hope. She believed that some miracle would take place and the baby would be fine. But all the tests proved otherwise.” It was a terrible time for the couple when the doctors informed them that they couldn’t save the child. “Aamir was devastated, but it was Kiran he was worried about,” says our source. “That particular day, he just held her and didn’t let anyone come in her room. She was being treated at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Aamir had shifted there for almost 10 days. He just had his driver and a personal attendant. A couple of days later, he just went home to take shower ad change. He didn’t want any of his security or staff to be there because he didn’t want the other patients to be disturbed. In the evenings, he would spend some time himself taking a stroll in the hospital premises. It was really painful to see him like that. “ During the pregnancy, Aamir had promised Kiran that he would take her on a holiday once everything was fine. Kiran was so happy – she personally went on various internet sites and chose a remote location in France. It’s a small town that’s scarcely populated. But Kiran simply loved the place. Once, she was discharged from the hospital, Aamir decided to keep his word. That’s why he booked a private villa at the same location and surprised Kiran by taking her there. He believed this was the best way for both of them to recuperate. “He didn’t carry his mobile phone or his laptop. He didn’t even give anyone the contact details of the place they were at. He just didn’t want anyone to disturb them. The break really helped them both. Kiran was emotionally scarred; Aamir would take her for long walks; he would even cook for her. Last week, Aamir and Kiran returned to Mumbai – not completely healed as yet but much stronger than before. “It’s going to take a while and Aamir is prepared, which is why he doesn’t want to be burdened by any work assignment, reveals an insider. “He had been reading scripts but now, he won’t do any film for a year. He knows Kiran needs him more than ever before. Plus, whatever time he gets, he has decided to use it instead for his three pending home productions, Delhi Belly, Dhobi Ghaat and Anusha Rizvi’s “The Falling”. All the three films are heading for their first cuts – after that, Aamir will take over. Uru Patel was keen to start his film on Hanuman with Aamir but that will have to wait a long time now.” A family friend reveals, “Aamir just wants to be with Kiran – everything else is secondary. His family is also being a great support. Whenever he needs to go out, someone is always around Kiran. She’s recovering from the pain but it will take some time. And Aamir knows that, so he’s being extra cautious.” It’s going to be tough no doubt but we’re sure he will overcome all the odds. That’s why he is Aamir Khan. The Fate of 3 Idiots: The schedule of Aamir’s next release, ‘3 Idiots’, was also postponed because of the unforeseen circumstances. There’s a song and a few scenes still left to be canned. Aamir has now given them dates from the 20th of September to the 2nd of October. A source from the production informs us, “Kareena is also needed on these days and earlier, she had given these dates to someone else. But she has also gone out of her way. She told Aamir that he could choose any dates that suited him and she would manage. “ In this period, he will also be completing his pending ad assignments for brands like Tata Sky, Parle G and others. Once this schedule is over, the shooting portion of 3 Idiots would be complete – Aamir is leaving the rest to producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Rajkumar Hirani. In fact, before he left for France, he had dinner with both of them to explain his situation.
