Neeraj Vora is Aamir's man for creative inputs when the actor is in doubt

Posted by admin | 179 Views

Very few people in this industry know about the close association between actor-writer-director Neeraj Vora (Daud, Run Bhola Run) and Aamir Khan. Mr Perfectionist often calls on the writer to act like a bouncing board and give creative imputs for his films.

If there is one thing that Aamir Khan is known for, it is his decisiveness and sense of script. It is a big compliment to anyone who is on his 'to-call' list. It started with Rangeela when Aamir called on Neeraj to be the dialogue writer of the film. He was not part of Ramu's original team.

But Khan requested him to step in, and the tapori flavour which the writer added, contributed hugely to the success of the Munna character. For the actor's last film, Ghajini, too, Vohra was called. The actor didn't like the climax of the original, and director AR Murugadoss too thought it would not work. So Neeraj was called in for a brainstorming session.

25 saal ka safar
Neeraj says, "Aamir and my association goes back 25 years when we worked together in Holi (1984). In fact, Ashutosh Gowariker, Aamir and I formed a trio of friends. I worked with him again as the dialogue writer of Rangeela.

I have done his first tapori Coca Cola when he said thanda matlab... and Tata Sky ads too where he dresses up as a man and woman. Whenever Aamir has needed my help, he has always called and hired my services professionally. He is also very talented at improvising language."

About Ghajini, he says, "I wasn't officially on board the film. I was just there with him on the sets helping him out as a friend to improvise. It's industry protocol for friends be there when someone is stuck. I am sure that if I am stuck sometime and I ask Aamir for help, he will come immediately."

Biggest fan
Neeraj says he remains Aamir's biggest fan for the kind of person he is, "I have watched all his films. In spite of being such a big star, he remains so down-to-earth, and is one of the finest human beings I know. He is very sincere and committed to whatever he does. He is highly intelligent, humble and extremely fair to his co-stars.

I can never imagine him editing or cutting out the scenes or dialogues of his co-stars or take credit for someone else's work. He has contributed many times to the scenes, script and screenplay but never claimed credit for its success."

At present, Neeraj is working on a film for Aamir. "We have a script finalised but the screenplay needs some changes and I am working on that."
