Aamir: The impression I had of Vinod was true...

Posted by admin | 570 Views

As part of the marketing blitzkrieg of 3 Idiots, the makers have released a booklet especially for media publicity titled How To Be An Idiot! The Complete Idiot's Guide To Life. It contains notes penned by producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, director Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan among other stuff about the movie.
Here's what Aamir has to say about doing 3 Idiots...
>>From the time that I entered the film industry, I was called an idiot. He won't last more than six months was the general consensus. Most of the decisions that I have taken in my career have been most impractical, and have therefore evoked a consistent lack of faith. And I can honestly say, that whenever I was following my heart, no matter how idiotic my decision it turned out alright. And whenever I thought I was being smart I fell on my face. Strange, but true.

>>When Raju narrated the script of 3i to me I fell in love with it. once again practical good sense was telling me not to do the film. How can I play an engineering student at 44? One more idiotic decision. Gosh! Am I a sucker for them.

>>In this journey, I've gained two important friends. Vinod, about whom I had this impression that he was (among other things) arrogant, full of himself, dominating, self-righteous and foul-mouthed. When I met him, got to know him better over time, I discovered that it was all... true! But he still won my heart. How? Don't ask. I still don't know. I suppose he is charming... or I am an idiot... or both.

>>The other, Raju, I knew to be the opposite, and that turned out true as well.
Of these two other 'idiots' I have encountered, one I have a lot to teach to (!) and the other I have a lot to learn from. And, they don't know it yet, but, neither is going to be able to escape the 'lessons'. But one thing I would like to say to both, which most of you won't fully get right now, but once you see the film you will understand. Jahanpanah, tussi great ho, tofa qubul karo!
