Gandhi My Father & Taare Zameen Par lead the pack at the 55th National Awards

[...]While Bollywood failed to bag the top four honours, it did quite make up in the other categories. Leading the pack was Anil Kapoor's maiden production Gandhi My Father which bagged three awards for Best Screenplay (Feroz Abbas Khan), Best Supporting Actor (Darshan Jariwala) and even won the Special Jury award. Even Aamir Khan's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par was not one to be left behind. The film won awards for Shankar Mahadevan (Best Male Playback Singer) and Prasoon Joshi (Best Lyrics) for the soul-stirring song 'Maa', besides also bagging the Best Film on Family Welfare award. |

Panaji: Setting the mood for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa Chief Minister has announced the organisation of the three-day Patriotic Film Festival to be held in the state beginning from August 7. The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), a nodal agency to host IFFI, will organise this festival at the venues designated for IFFI in Panaji and Margao. |

IIFA Academy in its tenth year has decided to institute a special set of Awards to commemorate the last decade of Indian Cinema. Therefore, celebrating the best of the best, it has put together nominations in five major categories for The Videocon IIFA Golden Decade Honours which will be announced at the IDEA IIFA Awards on the 13th of June, in Macau. PUNE: Hindi film actors Aamir Khan and Rekha have been selected for this year's Raj Kapoor Award presented by the state government. The V Shantaram Award would be presented to prominent lyricist Jagdish Khebudkar and noted actor-director Mahesh Kothare. The honours, which comprise Rs 2 lakh cash, a citation and a memento each, will be presented at the Maharashtra State Awards ceremony to be held at the Balewadi stadium in the city on May 30. |
